I recommend a 2-3 person group with an artist or two that you are truly interested in sharin with. Please look at these examples of small groups. They are doing things at their own pace with other artists they trust and enjoy.

Moly 21 exchange: Who's in?

I think life has been crazy for everyone, however I would like to know who is still interested in participating in the Moleskine exchange group. And who has who's moly. For those that would still like to participate I will put together a new mailing list. For those who do not have the time right now and would like their moly back, let us know so your moly can be mailed to you and you can mail any molys in your care to the next artist. :)

Currently, I have Bill's moly with me still awaiting to be mailed.

At LOOONNNGGG last. I completed my 2.5 pages for my moly. I promise not to be so tardy in the future!! In my other groups I have had themes. However, for this one I really want to leave it open to your imaginations. Please feel free to draw/collage/create anything you wish. Also, feel free to add or interact with any of the art in my moly! My wish is for you be free to create in your own styles.

The only thing I do ask is that when possible try to make the transitions from artist to artist fairly seamless...thus interacting with the previous artists work if needed. Oh, and it is not necessary, but I do LOVE art that has an emotional quality to it (thus the reason I invited you all to collaborate with me... ;-) Good luck and HAVE FUN!!

I don't have a theme. In fact, I don't want anyone to follow a theme on this. If you could, please just do what you do best of what you want to create. I've been enjoying the groups I'm in, but when it comes down to it, this is the type image I want to work on. So I hope you'll do what you want to do also.

Hello all! Here is a picture of the moleskine to purchase. Let me know if you have difficulties finding one and I'll post a web link to where I get mine. We have one month to start the exchange. So decide if you want your moleskine to have a theme or if it is just open to interpretation. Check out what other groups have done at the Flicker Moly_x_group (very inspiring!) This group, founded by Lisa Cheney-Jorgensen (USA), is an extension of the Moleskine Exchange. This blog will follow the adventures of a group of artists from around the world, in a Japanese fold Moleskine sketchbook exchange.

Each artist will set off with a small Japanese (accordian) folded Moleskine. Creating a drawing, collage, or painting, then send on to the next artist. Each artist will draw on a couple of spreads (2.5 pages) then send it on to the next artist. When the artists book is filled, it will be returned to the owner with images created by artist around the world. Each artist has a month to make an entry. The outcome will be a pleasant and surprising adventure, as artists are encouraged to interact and merge their art with others.

The concept:

1. The artists start with the Japanese fold Moleskine - Name, address, email address written in book.

2. Each artist gets 1 month to make a sketchbook entry, and mail it to the next person. The order is listed to the right.

3. Each artist will do around 2.5 pages each round. As we are 6 participants everybody will then get the Moleskine twice until it gets returned to its owner. But feel free to sometimes use a little more or less than 2.5 pages.

4. Artists are encouraged to interact with other images in the book. Please be respectful.

5. When the book is full, when one side of the unfolded book is filled, the book will be sent back to its original owner. That artist may continue by buying a new book and sending it to the next person.

6. If a person decides not to continue, she will simply keep her book when it comes back to her. She should email all of the participants to say she is not going to continue. We will decide, then, if we want to find a new person.

7. Please communicate regularly via email. Let each person know that you have received/sent the book. The goal is to have a dialogue. Any comments and questions are welcome.
